Ah, yeah thanks for the info! I can never remember which gives a wine more oak flavor, the aging or fermentation.

Wine picks up a lot more oak from aging, rather than fermenting in oak. Primary fermentation in oak is fairly rare in modern winemaking, because it doesn't really impart a flavor, and stainless makes it easier to control the temperature of the must.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've had some of Penfolds wine and liked them a lot for the price.

This was my first experience quite a few years ago with the lower priced ports, and I really liked it a lot.
When you get a chance to spend a little more, try 'The Grandfather' from Penfolds.

Still digging the show. Keep up the good work! At some point, I'd like to cast the two of you in something, but as to when and what, I'm not sure. In a couple years, you'll end up hearing from me, let's put it that way.

wonderful series with wine 101. i have so much to learn. because i am still kind of new to wines, most of my purchases have been red wines. what would you recommend as a good intro into the world of white wine. i am not huge on sweet wines, so maybe something a little more on the dry side. peace, friends!
